Description
This is the first Greek book on Cypriot flora. It draws heavily both on the relevant foreign bibliography, especially R. D. Meikle's Flora of Cyprus, and the data collected by the author T. Ch. Tsintides and the photographer L. Kourtellaridis on their numerous trips to every corner of free Cyprus.
The volume is introduced by a short text on the natural habitats of Cypriot flora followed by a detailed presentation of 128 endemic plants of Cyprus. Each entry includes the plant's botanical and common names, a short description, its natural habitat, the degree of rarity or abundance, etc.
The research conducted by T. Ch. Tsintides and L. Kourtellaridis revealed that some species are threatened with extinction. A book adressed not only to specialists but to all those who take an interest in nature and the environment.
